Linda Blair

Linda Linda LindaWhen she was just five Linda Blair had to learn to accept the spotlight. Initially, she was a child model and then as an actor, after out of 600 applicants she was chosen to play the role as Regan, the possessed child as seen as seen in The Exorcist (1973). Linda quickly rose to international fame, won the Golden Globe, and seemed likely to receive an Academy Award for that role However, after it was revealed how some parts of the character weren't done by Linda Blair (the vocals of the demon were dubbed through Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt dummy used) the dream was shattered in disappointment, which was probably the initial blow to what looked like the start of a successful career. She was able to land the lead role in a range of movies, including Born Innocent (#1 TV film of 1974) as well as Sarah T. - Portrait of the Teenage Alcoholic(1975) in addition to an Exorcist II sequel Exorcist II : The Heretic. When she bought cocaine under social pressure when she was 18 this resulted in her being detained and a sentence of three years probation. Linda was blacklisted by Hollywood following the widely-publicized drug bust. She soon found her career reduced to B movies as well as guest television appearances.
